How to Use This Calculator

1. Enter the home details. Square footage, bathrooms, and bedrooms drive the baseline maintenance time which is then multiplied for the deep clean.

2. Set your team size. The calculator accounts for diminishing returns with larger teams.

3. Mark if the home is very cluttered. Cluttered homes require moving items, working around obstacles, and extra detail work. This bumps the multiplier from 1.6x to 1.8x.

4. Compare the results. The calculator shows both the deep clean and maintenance clean estimates side by side so you can price accordingly.

How It Works

The calculator first estimates maintenance clean time using the standard formula (30 min per 1000 sqft + bathroom/bedroom/kitchen adjustments). Then it applies the deep clean multiplier of 1.6x (or 1.8x for cluttered homes).

Deep_Time = Maintenance_Time x 1.6 (or 1.8 if cluttered)

The 1.6x multiplier is based on ISSA cleaning standards. Deep cleaning adds baseboards, inside cabinets, behind appliances, detailed bathroom scrubbing, window sills, light fixtures, and ceiling fans. These tasks typically add 40-80% to a maintenance clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a deep clean take?
A deep clean takes approximately 1.6x longer than a standard maintenance clean. For a 2000 sq ft home, expect 4-6 hours for a single cleaner or 2.5-3.5 hours for a 2-person team. Very cluttered homes add another 20% on top of that.
What is the difference between deep clean and maintenance clean?
A maintenance clean covers surfaces, floors, and bathrooms. A deep clean adds baseboards, inside cabinets and drawers, behind appliances, detailed bathroom scrubbing, window sills, light fixtures, and ceiling fans. Deep cleans run 40-80% longer and cost 1.6x more on average.
How much should I charge for a deep clean?
Deep cleans typically cost 1.6x the maintenance clean price. For a 2000 sq ft home where maintenance is $250-330, a deep clean should be $400-530. Very cluttered homes justify a 1.8x multiplier. Always quote deep cleans separately from recurring maintenance pricing.
