How to Use This Calculator

1. Select joint dimensions. Choose the joint width and depth from the dropdowns. Most interior trim joints are 1/4" wide by 1/4" deep.

2. Enter total linear feet. Measure all joints that need caulking and add them up.

3. Choose your cartridge size. Standard 10 oz cartridges fit any caulk gun. 25 oz sausage packs need a bulk gun but offer better value on large jobs.

4. Set your cost and rate. The calculator shows material cost plus labor to determine customer pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much caulk do I need?
A standard 10 oz cartridge covers 30-240 linear feet depending on joint width and depth. For a 1/4 inch wide by 1/4 inch deep joint, one 10 oz tube covers about 60 linear feet. Always buy one extra tube for waste.
What type of caulk should I use?
Use silicone caulk for bathrooms and kitchens. Use paintable latex caulk for interior trim and baseboards. Use polyurethane caulk for exterior joints that need flexibility.
How long does caulk last?
Quality silicone caulk lasts 20+ years. Latex caulk typically lasts 5-10 years. Polyurethane lasts 10-20 years. Replace when you see cracking, peeling, or gaps.
